Allamericanplayer Doubles Up In Sapling Stakes

Allamericanplayer (NZ)

Exciting juvenile Allamericanplayer (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) continues to go from strength-to-strength, and showcased his talent once more when taking out the Group Two Sapling Stakes (1700m) at Ashburton last Sunday.

It continued the burgeoning rivalry with the Cran and Chrissie Dalgety-trained Fugitive (NZ) (Downbytheseaside), and while the ledger still currently leans towards Fugitive’s favour, it is Allamericanplayer who has had the bragging rights in their last two meetings, including last month’s Group One Welcome Stakes (1980m) at Addington Raceway.

Allamericanplayer is now two wins from two starts in the South Island, and while he is returning to Stonewall Stud’s Auckland base, Amanda Telfer, who trains the colt in partnership with her brother Steve, is looking forward to welcoming him back down south later this year.

“He has been a delight since he has been down from the North Island and he must be good to get my brother down here two weeks in a row,” she said.

“He is just an all-round package that is going to get better. We don’t know how good he is, but he is going to be a really nice horse.

“He is going to have a spell now. He will wait here until we can get him a flight home and then he will go back to Steve (in Auckland), and I am sure he will be back down at the end of the year.”

Bred by Breckon Farms, Allamericanplayer is out of Goodlookingbabe, a half-sister to six-time Group One winner Elle Mac and Group One performer Miss Streisand.

While the daughter of Mach Three only won three races on the track, she has made her mark as a broodmare, with Allamericanplayer becoming her third Group One winner, joining siblings Allamericanlover (NZ) (American Ideal) and In The Spotlight (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight).

Allamericanplayer attracted plenty of attention when offered through Breckon Farms’ 2024 NZB Standardbred National Yearling Sale draft at Karaka, and was knocked down to the bid of Stonewall Stud for $155,000.

He has made an early impact for his connections, having won three and placed in four of his seven starts to date, and he has accrued nearly $120,000 in prizemoney.
