Stella Rouge Heads Stonewall Stud Attack on Harness Million

Stella Rouge (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) just needs luck on her side to be a potent force in the $150,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two-Year-Old Fillies Final (1980m) at Addington on Friday night.
Following a brilliant last start victory, the blueblood filly has drawn tricky spot in barrier 1 on the second row in the lucrative feature for trainers Steve and Amanda Telfer and driver Tim Williams.
Stella Rouge charged home to beat many of her rivals in her latest outing at Addington showing off her immense talent.
Amanda Telfer hopes the filly will get the chance to do the same on Friday night.
“We were pleased with her win, she disappointed us first up but it was a very good run last start.”
“She has trained on nicely since then.”
“It does look like a tricky draw so she is going to need a little bit of luck.”
“But hopefully something opens up for her and she gets her chance.”
Stella Rouge was a $97,500 purchase by Stonewall Stud out of the Dancingonmoonlight draft at the 2023 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch.
With two superstar mares in Belle Of Montana (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) and Carabella (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) close up in her pedigree, the filly had plenty going for her.
“She was a lovely filly as a yearling, she was well put together and just a nice horse really.”
“After we broke her in we identified pretty early that she was one that we liked.”
“Each time we brought her back in she has just got better and better.”
Stonewall Stud’s racing stable have qualified four horses for the Harness Million Two-Year-Old Fillies Final with Always B Magic (NZ) (Always B Miki), Elektra King (NZ) (Captaintreacherous) and Always B Misty (NZ) (Always B Miki) joining their stablemate Stella Rouge.
Always B Magic has the best draw of the Stonewall Stud team in barrier 2 for driver David Butcher.
The two-year-old is having just her second start in the South Island in the Harness Million Two-Year-Old Fillies Final after being educated at Stonewall Stud’s northern base with Steve Telfer.
“She is going good races and she has a nice draw to work with,” Amanda Telfer said.
“Steve really likes her and he thinks she will be even better as a three-year-old.”
Stonewall Stud’s quartet take on the Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan trained favourite in Im Sandra Dee (NZ) (Always B Miki).
The classy pacer has headed south for her first Harness Million tilt after running a tenacious fourth in the Group One Caduceus Club Fillies Classic (2200m) at Alexandra Park.
The annual two-year-old fillies feature Harness Milion Final kicks off Friday at 8:23 pm at Addington.
