Stella Rouge Too Slick in Group One Triumph

Stella Rouge (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) clinched deserved reward with her powerful front-running win in the $100,000 Group One Renwick Farms Ace Of Diamonds (1980m) at Addington on Friday night.

The NZB Standardbred graduate never gave her rivals a look-in in her dominant victory for trainers Steve and Amanda Telfer and driver Tim Williams.

Though she looked every bit the natural leader as she set a strong tempo throughout Friday night’s feature, Williams revealed that at this early stage of her career Stella Rouge is even more potent in behind runners.
“I have always really liked her, she has always been a filly with a lot of speed,” Williams said.

“Maybe to her detriment, she is not terrific in front but she is getting better all the time.”

“I was really proud of her to be able to lead up and do that.”

Stella Rouge came into Friday night’s feature after her excellent second in the Group One Sires Stakes Fillies Championship (1980m) at Addington.

And the filly gave Williams the impression she was ready to go one better.

“She warmed up super tonight, she felt really good.”

“She is getting a bit better with a bit of racing.”

“We were lucky that the draws were in our favour tonight and we were able to use it.”

“She was pretty comfortable in front throughout.”

Stella Rouge was secured for $97,500 by Stonewall Stud Ltd when she was offered among the Dancingonmoonlight Ltd draft at the 2023 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch.

Dancingonmoonlight Ltd will offer an outstanding draft of 12 blueblood youngsters at the 2025 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch on February 18.

A close relative of Stella Rouge will be offered by Breckon Farms at the 2025 National Yearling Sale at Auckland on February 15.

Lot 93 is a Captaintreacherous (USA) colt from a half-sister to Stella Rouge’s dam Lady Gilpin (Somebeachsomewhere) (NZ) in Delightful Kas (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight).

Delightful Kas has already left Group One winning NZB Standardbred graduate Rubira (NZ) (Always B Miki).
