Ya Rite Darl (NZ) adds Group Win to Growing CV

In just three starts, Ya Rite Darl (NZ) (What The Hill) has certified herself a bargain weanling purchase and a Group race winner.
The $8000 selection at the 2022 National Weanling Sale at Karaka powered to an impressive win in the $46,000 SENZ New Zealand Two-Year-Old Trotting Stakes (1980m) at Addington on Friday night.
The classy youngster was purchased and is raced by Diamond Racing after she was offered by breeder-vendors Woodlands Stud.
Driver John Dunn took Ya Rite Darl to the lead in the middle stages on Friday night’s feature and from there, victory never looked in doubt.
“Once I got the lead trouble-free, it was a good feeling,” Dunn said.
“She trotted the whole way which was great and managed to hold them all off, manners were to the fore.”
After making it two wins and a third placing from her three starts, Ya Rite Darl will now be put aside and aimed at New Zealand’s spring features for two-year-old trotters.
“We will turn her out now and get her ready for September onwards when the season picks up again,” Dunn said.
After purchasing Ya Rite Darl (NZ) (What The Hill) in 2022, Diamond Racing Stables returned to the 2023 National Weanling Sale to purchase the rising star’s full sister.
Woodlands Stud will offer 12 youngsters by What the Hill at the 2024 National Weanling Sale at Karaka on May 23.
Among the stellar line up of weanlings is Lot 70 a close relation of recently retired trotting star Majestic Man (NZ) (Majestic Son).
NZB Standardbred graduate Bet N Win (NZ) (What The Hill), continued his outstanding form when also running to victory at Addington on Friday night.
The rising star is by What The Hill (CAN) from a Pegasus Spur (USA) mare.
Woodlands Stud will offer four weanlings bred on the same cross at the National Weanling Sale in lots 33, 39, 53 and 85.
