Deserved Group Success For Blazing Home (NZ)
30 July 2024
Blazing Home (NZ) (Rock N Roll Heaven) burst out of the pack to notch a brilliant victory in the A$53,000 Four-Year-Old Championship (2138m) at Albion Park on Saturday night. The NZB Standardbred graduate was bottled away three back on the inner for much of the Constellations Carnival feature. However, as soon as the pacer saw clear air on the home turn, he charged away from his rivals to record an excellent win for trainer Jarrod Alchin and driver Will Rixon.
Blazing Home had competed with real credit at the Constellations Carnival and Alchin was thrilled to see his horse rewarded with a feature win on Saturday night.
“It was great to see him come away with the win,” Alchin told National Trotguide.
“He had no luck in his first two starts up here and was bursting to score.”
“He finally got his chance with a clear run last night and showed what he can do.”
Blazing Home was purchased by Matt Bowden for $22,000 when he was offered among Michelle Carson’s draft at the 2021 National Yearling Sale at Karaka. The pacer won his only public appearance in New Zealand before being purchased by clients of the Alchin stable.
The Sydney trainer will now bring Blazing Home back to his stable before he sets the pacer for a Victorian raid.
“I’ll take him home now where he will have a few easy days before I wind him up again for the Vicbred,” Alchin said.
“He won’t race between now and the heats, but I might give him a soft trial before we take off.”
Blazing Home wasn’t the only bargain purchase to star on the final night of the Constellations Carnival. Fellow NZB Standardbred graduate Reset The Bar (NZ) (Sweet Lou) won the final event at the outstanding Queensland carnival of harness racing on Saturday night.
